Tokyo Jazz Club is a temporary cultural event taking place in Tokyo over eight days, from Sunday, November 1 to Sunday, November 8, 2026, across all eight floors of a former capsule hotel in Kanda-Nishikicho, near the historic book district of Jimbōchō. Contemporary art, live performance, music, hospitality, and social encounters unfold together throughout the building — a single site-responsive environment that is at once an immersive exhibition, a social space, and a reimagined marketplace.
Inspired by Japan’s jazz culture – with its jazz kissas, listening bars, and a long ethos of experimentation and gathering – the project treats jazz less as a subject than as a principle: breaking with convention, collaborative improvisation, and embracing harmonious chaos. An octave has eight notes, the hotel has eight floors. Tokyo Jazz Club is open for eight days, each very different from the next. Across the floors, stages, exhibition spaces, listening stalls, a whiskey bar, a game room, and intimate art capsules each carry their own tone.
Emerging from the legacy of Basel Social Club, Tokyo Jazz Club carries forward the same interests in temporary architecture, interdisciplinary programming, and the social possibilities of exhibition-making, while establishing a distinct identity of its own, shaped for Tokyo together with its partners. Rooted in the city yet international in reach, it is run by a team from Tokyo and abroad, and brings emerging and established artists and musicians from Japan and around the world into dialogue.
The inaugural edition of Tokyo Jazz Club is presented in partnership with Art Week Tokyo and made possible through the generous support of Arts Council Tokyo (Grant for Artistic City), and in cooperation with Yasuda Real Estate Co., Ltd.

Tokyo Jazz Club
